No matter how great they look at Internet it is wise to practice with the easiest one. Basically all German chocolate cakes have similar steps to do. So let’s check following recipe.
It is easy to make. First we need to prepare ingredients including 1 (18,25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix, ½ cup vegetable oil, 1 cup buttermilk, 3 large eggs and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. For Coconut Almond Frosting prepare ½ cup butter, 1 cup evaporated milk, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, beaten, 1 tablespoon vanilla, 1 (7 oz package) sweetened flaked coconut and 1 cup sliced almonds,
After these ingredients ready, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix in a large mixing bowl buttermilk, cake mix, eggs and vanilla using low speed mixer for a minute or until all ingredients combined. Next beat again at medium speed for about two minutes. Pour the mixture into greased and floured 13 x 9 baking dish then bake for about 40 minutes until the cake springs back as we pressed it lightly. Let it cool completely on wire rack.
Next we make coconut almond frosting. Combine sugar, butter, evaporated milk and eggs in a saucepan. Cook using medium heat and stir it constantly for about 10 minutes or until it looks thicker. Add coconut, vanilla and almond and then cool it to room temperature before frosting it to the cake.
We can combine different ingredients for topping to make it more decorative and tasty of course. In addition, we can also adjust balance between sweetness and bitter of chocolate by adding or reducing the sweetener.
