Chocolate frosting is an easy dessert we can make at home. There are so many recipes we may find in Internet with various difficulty levels of preparation. To make it work it is wise selecting one that the ingredients have already been available or easy to get.
To make a chocolate frosting wee need ingredients including 10 oz bittersweet chocolate (both broken or roughly chopped), 1/8 teaspoon of kosher salt, 1/4 tea spoon vanilla extract, ¼ cup confectioners sugar, 1/8 tea spoon espresso powder, and 3 sticks of unsalted butter (well softened).
After all ingredients are ready we further to preparation stages. First fill medium saucepan with 1” water and simmer it low. Place heatproof bowl on saucepan to make double boiler. Next add chocolate and let it cook, stirring sometimes with heatproof rubber spatula until evenly melted and smooth. Remove the bowl from the pan and stir in salt vanilla and espresso powder immediately. Wait for the chocolate cool completely (but not harden).
Add butter and beat on high speed in the bowl of a stand mixer until smooth. Scrape down the sides of bowl and slowly add ½ cup chocolate at a time with medium speed mixer, and beating each additional until evenly smooth.
After all chocolates have been added then turn off the mixer and sift in confectioners sugar then beat. Starting on low speed and work it up to medium-high until frosting becomes smooth and slightly thickened (it may take about 2 minutes). This frosting is best when used and eaten immediately.
We may improvise to add more ingredients into our recipe but make sure that we have mastered basic steps of making chocolate frosting. Patience and practices are important to obtain best result. As we have more experience we will know how much sugar to add or to lessen and so on. As state above, chocolate frosting is great when it is eaten immediately.
